Meet Dr. John Stroop
My orthodontic treatment is not just about straightening your teeth; it is about changing your life! My team and I love to create beautiful smiles that our patients are proud of. One of our goals is to develop a friendship with our patients while they are in treatment that is lasting and memorable! It gives us great satisfaction and joy to see our patients reach the end of their treatment with the self-assurance and confidence that a beautiful smile adds to a life.
When I was a teenager, I had a wonderful experience with the orthodontist my family chose for me. My personal experience wearing braces and the influence of that office’s staff helped me understand that orthodontics and the way people are treated can make a life-changing difference! I have always found a special joy in helping people. Orthodontics blends the two perfectly!
Education and Continuing Education
- Bachelor of Science in biology – David Lipscomb College
- Doctorate of Dental Medicine – University of Louisville School of Dentistry
- Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society
- Beta Delta Fraternity Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology Honorary Dental Fraternity
- Phi Beta Honorary Dental Fraternity

The field of orthodontics has changed significantly in the 30 years I’ve been practicing. To stay at the forefront of developing technology, I attend local, state, and national continuing education courses. Continued learning enables me to implement the most current orthodontic technologies and procedures for my patients in order to give them beautiful smiles in the shortest amount of time.
One such technology has been Invisalign®. Many of my younger patients, as well as adults, are interested in aligning their teeth without braces. I have been using Invisalign treatment since 2001 to provide this service and continue to keep up with advances in Invisalign treatment.

Outside the Office
I was born in Nashville and moved to Louisville when I was in in fifth grade. In high school, I participated in swimming, track, and band. I have always enjoyed golfing, tennis, and waterskiing, as well as snow skiing.
I moved to Marietta in 1981 when I graduated from my orthodontic residency. My wife Kathy and I eventually settled in the Alpharetta area where we now reside. Kathy and I have two wonderful children, Jon and Nikki, and three terrific grandsons: Jacob, William, and Sam. When I am not in the office, you will find me enjoying my family and at my grandsons’ sporting events.
I have always been actively involved in church: teaching and going on retreats with the youth. I currently work with recovery programs that help men who are recovering from alcohol and substance addictions. I have served as a board member and past chairman of the board of Georgia Agape, an adoption and foster placement agency located here in Atlanta through which my wife and I have enjoyed fostering infants and young children.
